The LandMark Inn
Sites In And Around
Oberlin & the surrounding area:
You'll discover that Oberlin has a lot to
offer the visitor and is " far more than you expect". Nestled in the Sappa
Valley, Oberlin's progressive attitude includes preservation of the past. Oberlin's brick
streets, vintage lamp posts, and treelined residential areas hearken back to an earlier
time when life moved at a slower pace. Take a stroll down our brick streets viewing the
ongoing restoration of Oberlin's Victorian era homes.
The Decatur
County Museum is conveniently located one block south of the Land Mark Inn. The museum is
one of the best kept secrets in Kansas and houses thousands of items on display in ten
buildings including a sod house, train depot, Phillips 66 gas station and more. The museum
also houses a display of Indian artifacts that tell the story of the Last Indian Raid on
Kansas Soil. The area has numerous other museums and historic sites are in the area.
Northwest
Kansas is a hunter's paradise and fishing can be found in several area lakes. The Oberlin
Country Club's nine hole golf course follows the Sappa Creek east of Oberlin.
Oberlin offers an attractive canopy covered shopping district. Antiques, crafts, fine arts
and an old fashioned soda fountain add to the mix of retail shops in downtown Oberlin.
Additional shopping is within an hour's drive at two outlet shopping malls.
Oberlin is located in Northwest Kansas at the crossroads of U.S. 36 and U.S. 83 halfway between I-70 in Kansas and I-80 in Nebraska. U.S. 83 is one of the great north-south links between Canada and Mexico. Both routes have 65 mph speed limits through Kansas.
